Exceptional paint-decorated blanket chest with two drawers. Maine origin circa 1840. Red with black swirls of paint. No restoration to body or surface. Some shrinkage in the paint on the lid. Original hinges, probably replaced hardware. Signed in chalk on rear, "Amos Baysbees". 40" tall, 41" wide. Ex-Pam Boynton.
